MENTAL HEALTH ASSISTANT (MHA) – 11095

The primary task of this position is to observe patients and ensure the safety
of individuals on the unit. Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary
Treatment team. Attends Treatment plan and rounds meetings as schedule allows.
Mental Health Assistants perform patient care as directed by the patient’s
nurse and treatment team. This includes assistance with ADL’s, therapeutic
interactions to engage patients, lead group activities, and intervene when
patients behaving in an unsafe manor. Light housekeeping as needed.

Qualifications:
Individual with strong social skills able to learn the nuances of treatment
interventions necessary to adequately care for a wide variety individuals with
mental health illness and substance abuse issues.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred.

License/Certifications:
Able to complete BLS training and Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations
training. PCA Training preferred

Experience:
No specific human service training required. Preferred experience includes CNA
work and/or Human Service work with direct patient/client contact.

Salary Range: $17.85 – $17.85
