QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in
HIM or related field preferred.

License/Certifications: RHIT/RHIA preferred.

Experience: 1 or more years of experience in Health Information Management
(HIM) or related work environment preferred. Will consider Associates degree
in HIM with a minimum of 80 hours of HIM practical experience in a hospital
setting in lieu of work experience. Must have experience working with
computers and navigating through multiple systems. Experience with Microsoft
Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

SUMMARY: The HIS Specialist is responsible for the operational tasks within the
AMHS HIM Department. This includes retrieval, prepping, scanning, and indexing
the clinical paper documentation (medical records) in a manner consistent with
medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements.~Performs
quality review of documentation ensuring the overall integrity of the legal
health record. Chart deficiency analysis is performed to assure documentation
is complete. Responsible for reviewing and processing requests for release of
information as per NYSDOH & HIPAA regulations.

Salary Range: $15.20 – $21.80
